R is a “a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics”, an alternative to S-pluss and SAS.
This is not an expert forum – more a kind of random learning documentation ”as you go”. Since R is well integrated in the free operation system Ubuntu as an alternative to Windows(tm) some posts will document learning experiences in connection with Linux/Ubunty.
Additionally the Emacs text editor is one of the best work horses for a programmer and has a native interface to R (ESS) which is even included in the default software repositories of Ubuntu.
So Rforge is a documentation and backup for scripts and how2s – and a place to share this knowledge at the same time.
